Sakuracon 2010! Are you going to be there?
While we aren't playing at Sakuracon 2010 this year, I am going to be there doing a few panels. I'd love to hang out with you and talk about the latest with the band, sneak a few copies of our new album in, and see some old friends. If you're going to be at Sakuracon, then I hope you'll be able to drop by panel room #606 for some cool stuff.
On Sunday, April 4th, these are the panels:
11:30am-12:30pm: "How Being Asian Got Me in Trouble" - Where Simon talks about experiences where Eastern and Western cultures have clashed...and how that has resulted in being banned from clubs, detained at an international border, and being accused of being racist towards himself!
12:30pm-1:30pm: "Breaking Into the Music Industry" - So you want to be a rock star? Slants’ bassist and founder, Simon Young, answers questions about anything and everything within the music industry from touring, marketing, publishing, and licensing. Appropriate for musicians of all types and levels.
Hope to see you there!

Zombies, Slants and more, oh my!
Hi friends!
It's been a little while so I thought I'd write to tell you about some general updates on the band. First of all, we just want to say thank you to everyone who has been sending us great comments on our new songs that we've posted up on our Myspace page. We know thta you'll love the new album, Pageantry, and are excited to share all of the songs with you live.
The album is supposed to be arriving in our hands in about two weeks. If you pre-order at theslants.com, you'll get it almost a month before it hits stores as well as get a free Slants' Army dog chain necklace!
We've mainly been busy getting ready for our Spring tour. We'll be playing a ton of shows so it'll be great to see all of our far-away friends across the country. Speaking of which, we're planning the rest of 2010 and 2011's anime convention appearances and would love to play more than ever.
So if you have a favorite convention and would like to see The Slants there, be sure to visit their message board forums and tell them that you'd like to see us as guests. Speaking of which, we'd love to play KUMORICON again! If you want to get slanted again, let them know that you want THE SLANTS:
Hope to see you at a show soon!

Recording...done!
Yesterday, we spent another 12 hours in the studio to finish up recording drums, guitar parts, and back up vocals for the album. I can't believe it, we're finally done. After spending almost two years writing new material and the last few months recording/producing, it's finally ready to get mixed and mastered. That means we'll probably have a digital version in the first two weeks of January and physical copies a few weeks after...
As soon as get the mastered versions back, we'll have the album ready for pre-order on our brand new website! We've hired the same graphic designer who did the artwork for our Myspace page to re-do theslants.com and can't wait to launch the site with all new features (including an improved e-store) along with the new album.
Thank you everyone for your patience, we hope you'll love the new songs that will ROCK and melt you face more than ever!
